Forget Not All His Benefits

Bless the Lord, O my Soul, &forget not all His benefits.

Psalm 103, a psalm of David, has the title "Bless The LORD, O My Soul". There is a beautiful song we sing in our worship service with this title.

Psalm 103 was a part of my devotional reading recently and as I began to read, verse 2 really popped out - "Bless the Lord, O my Soul, AND forget not ALL His benefits." All His benefits? I don't remember reading this before. As I continued to read, I began to underline this list.

As I really let it sink in about all the benefits we, as God's children have, so much peace, comfort and gratitude poured over me. What a wonderful reminder this was of how Amazing our God is and how He cares so much for His children.

I pray as you read this list, that you, too, will find peace and comfort in the words of the psalmist. I also pray you will be filled with gratitude and realize why he said "forget not all His benefits."

Psalm 103:3-14
1) He forgives all your iniquities
2) He heals all your diseases
3) He redeems your life from the pit
4) He crowns you with steadfast love and mercy
5) He satisfies you with good so your youth is renewed like the eagle's
6) The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed
7) He is merciful & gracious
8) He is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love
9) He will not always chide, nor will He keep His anger forever
10) He does not deal with us according to our sins (aren't we thankful for this?)
11) He does not repay us according to our iniquities (again, so thankful for this!)
12) As high as the heavens are above the earth, so greatly is His steadfast love toward those who fear Him
13) As far as the east is from the west, so far does He remove our transgressions from us (grateful for the blood of Christ)
14) The Lord shows compassion to those who fear Him
15) He knows our frame - how we are formed (Psalm 139:13,14); from the dust (Genesis 2:7)

The psalmist then shares how our days are numbered - they are like grass; however, in verses 17-19, he shares how God's steadfast love is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him; to those who keep and remember His commandments. For He has established His throne in heaven.

And, then again, in verses 20-22, the psalmist says four times, "Bless the Lord."

Yes, Psalm 103 can be such a comforting scripture when we realize all the benefits God has for us.

I pray you forget not - that you remember all the many benefits you have as a child of God.

Bless the Lord, O My Soul.

I decided to treat the dirty window as one of my daily tasks. I wrote in my planner on a specific day and time when I would clean that window! I’m grinning as I write this thinking, "I scheduled a time to clean the window?"; yet that’s how I knew I would get it done.

When we got to the top deck, I was reminded that the rock-climbing wall was there. I watched as some of my friends climbed, and I knew I wanted to get to the top and ring the bell! What about you, what’s something you are wanting to achieve?
